In some areas, wireless Internet hotspots are few and far between. Even in urban areas where WiFi hotspots are plentiful it's good to have more options. In a crowded café there may be so many people sharing the WiFi that Internet speeds slow to a crawl. If you're in a hotel that charges for wifi, you might be able to pull in a free signal from outside the hotel. 
A reader asks: "I've seen something called MagicTalk that's supposed to give you free phone calls to landlines and mobile phones. Can I really make free phone calls, or is MagicTalk a scam?" It's true, you can download a program called MagicTalk and use it to call any landline or mobile phone in the US or Canada, free of charge.

Does it matter what people are saying about you online? If someone is posting unkind, unflattering, or downright false comments about your or your business, it may matter a lot. Your online reputation is at least as valuable as your offline reputation, and much easier to keep tabs on. And you might be surprised at how much personal information can be found about you in cyberspace. 
Most people can tell when their cars need a tune-up. Odd noises, sluggish acceleration, and white smoke from the tailpipe are easily recognized signs. Computers also get out of tune and need minor adjustments to perform their best again. If your computer is crashing, running slower than when it was new, or spewing smoke, you might need to pop the hood. 
When you travel abroad you may find that your trusty cell phone doesn't work in foreign countries, or extremely remote locations. Savvy travelers take advantage of international cell phone rentals to temporarily serve their needs in different countries. There are even satellite phone rentals that can keep you connected in the Sahara desert or the Amazon River basin.
