Hi, kids!

Today's TOURBUS is going to be a tad bit short because:

     1) It is well after midnight; and

     2) Your fearless bus driver has to be in Huntsville in the
morning to do a demo dive at the Underwater Astronaut Trainer
(I used to be a Simulations Director at Space Camp, so they
let me SCUBA dive in the neutral buoyancy tank every now and
        then). :)

Just because today's TOURBUS post is short, though, doesn't mean that this
post isn't full of love. In fact, I can think of two organizations that I
am particularly fond of right now ...

LITERATURE OF THE HOLOCAUST
---------------------------

Normally, TOURBUS posts really don't deal with "serious" issues.
Occasionally, we may talk about urban legends and viruses (by the way, be
looking for my virus post next week). Most of the time, however, Bob and I
just write about the neatest search engines, the most humorous Internet
tools, and other cool stuff like that.

I hope you don't mind, but today's TOURBUS stop is going to be a little
more serious. As a matter of fact, if you are uncomfortable with the topic
of the Holocaust, you probably won't want to read the rest of today's
TOURBUS post.

Al Filreis is an English professor at Pennsylvania State University. One
of the classes that he teaches is "English 293: The Literature of the
Holocaust," and a few years ago he created a companion Web page for his
course at

     http://www.english.upenn.edu/~afilreis/Holocaust/holhome.html

Filreis' page is one of the most exhaustive online sources for Holocaust
literature anywhere. From survivor testimonies to photographs of
Auschwitz, Filreis' page contains enough information to keep serious
scholars busy for weeks and to give merely curious an opportunity to learn
more about the Holocaust outside of the movie theater and TV screens.

Filreis Listerature of the Holocaust homepage also includes links to
several other online Holocaust resources, including:

     - Yad Vashem
     - The Simon Wiesenthal Center
     - The US Holocaust Memorial Museum (in DC), and
     - The Holocaust FAQ on Operation Reinhard

The Reinhard FAQ explains, in layman's terms, what really happened at
Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka. Besides being on Filreis' homepage, the
first part of the Reinhard FAQ can also be found on the Web at

     http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/hypertext/faq/usenet/
        holocaust/reinhard/part01/faq.html

and the second part can be found at

     http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/hypertext/faq/usenet/
        holocaust/reinhard/part02/faq.html

I do need to warn you about one thing, though: there are some people who,
despite the mountains of physical evidence, still believe that the
Holocaust never happened. And a few of these people have created their own
homepages to promote this idea. Filreis' Holocaust page includes links to
a few of these homepages.

Filreis does this so that he can provide his students with the opportunity
to actually see, and later discuss in class, some of the [faulty] arguments
of the Holocaust revisionists. Filereis' Holocaust page also provides
links to many sources that clearly refute the revisionist's claims. [If
you are worried about accidentally clicking on a link and ending up at some
neo-nazi homepage, don't worry -- Filreis provides a warning for each of
the "offensive" links].

As I said earlier, today's TOURBUS stop is a little more serious than
usual. But if you are looking for an extensive wealth of information about
the Holocaust, and especially if you are looking for written text about the
Holocaust, you really owe it to yourself to check out the Literature of the
Holocaust page.
