     TODAY'S TOURBUS STOP(S): TOURBUS PLUS!
     TODAY'S ADDRESS: http://www.tourbus.com/plus.htm

Howdy, y'all!

You may have noticed that I haven't said too much about the University of
Alabama's Crimson Tide football team recently. That is because the Tide
has had a rough season this year, posting its first losing record since
Ronald Reagan's first term. A good friend of mine informed me that
Alabama's loosing record was, in fact, due to a drug problem ... first we
get drug up the field, then we get drug down the field. :)

While Alabama's football team probably isn't going to win the National
Championship anytime soon, I am happy to announce that, for the second year
in a row, U of A's "Lee and Wolfe" (TOURBUS, 18 September 1997) was chosen
as the number one college radio show in America. One of their radio bits,
"Lee's Tooth Pullin,'" also won in the best production category. [By the
way, if you want to hear the tooth pullin' bit online using Real Audio,
point your Web browser to
http://v91.simplenet.com/leewolfe/comedy/audio/leetooth.ram]

Anyway, we have a _BUNCH_ of stuff to talk about today. First off, I want
to give you a little advanced warning that next Thursday's TOURBUS post
will be a "rerun." If you have been a passenger on our little bus of
Internet happiness for a while, you will recall that TOURBUS has two annual
traditions:

     1. On the first Thursday of every new year, I post TOURBUS'
         "Frequently Answered Questions" file, and

     2. Every Thanksgiving (US), I give everyone a heaping helping
from TOURBUS' annual Thanksgiving Spam post. :)

Since next Thursday is Thanksgiving in the United States, be looking for
the third "first annual TOURBUS Thanksgiving Spam" post. [Actually, the
Spam post will contain include the latest news and information about some
of the spams and urban legends that are floating around the Net right now].

Next topic. With my graduation from the University of Alabama now an event
not too far off on the distant horizon, I predict that:

     1. Since I have no social life to speak of, my graduation will
mean that I will have a heck of a lot more free time to
dedicate to my online Internet training activities (including
"Atlas," my vaporware Web training workshop which I really
will -- and I mean it this time -- start working on in
         April); and

     2. The rotten, evil people at Regions Bank's Student Loan
Department in Mobile, Alabama, will soon expect your fearless
bus driver to start paying off his student loans (GASP!).

In light of these changes (especially the second one), Bob and I are
pleased to announce a new, weekend subscription service called "TOURBUS
Plus!"

Now, before you panic, please read the next paragraph carefully:

Bob and I are _NOT_ changing TOURBUS. TOURBUS is a free, semi-
weekly newsletter distributed every Tuesday-ish and Thursday-ish.
I like TOURBUS the way it is, Bob likes TOURBUS the way it is,
and our 80,000 riders seem to like TOURBUS the way it is. And as
long as I have anything to say about it, TOURBUS will always
remain a free, semi-weekly newsletter distributed every Tuesday-
ish and Thursday-ish (although, after I graduate, I'll see what I
can do to make those delivery dates a little less "ish").
REMEMBER: WE ARE _NOT_ CHANGING TOURBUS.

TOURBUS Plus! is a just a new weekend subscription service that Bob and I
are going to start offering next month. The regular old TOURBUS that you
have grown to love and admire will continue to be free, and will continue
to be posted every Tuesday-ish and Thursday-ish.

TOURBUS Plus! is a new subscription service that is posted on the weekends
(every Saturday-ish). In other words, when you subscribe to TOURBUS Plus!,
you'll get an additional TOURBUS post every week. And actually, the
TOURBUS Plus! posts are going to be a little different than the TOURBUS
posts that we have all grown to love.

Some people have mentioned that they would like TOURBUS a little better if
it didn't have any ads, so all of TOURBUS Plus! posts will be completely
free of ads! Unfortunately, there's a catch: the ads are what keeps
TOURBUS free. That's why Bob and I decided to make TOURBUS Plus! a
subscription service.

How much does the new TOURBUS Plus! cost? US$10 a year. (Remember, the
regular TOURBUS will always be free ... this US$10 a year fee is only for
the new TOURBUS Plus! weekend service). In return for your $10
subscription fee, you'll get an additional 52 brand new TOURBUS posts, one
every Saturday. These new TOURBUS Plus! posts will only be available to
TOURBUS Plus! subscribers, and will not be available anywhere else on the
Internet.

So, for US$10 a year you get 52 new TOURBUS Plus! posts, and I get a way to
pay the rotten, evil people at Regions Bank's Student Loan Department in
Mobile, Alabama. :)

Seriously, though, TOURBUS Plus! will also offer a lot of things that Bob
and I simply cannot offer in our regular TOURBUS posts, including:

     - Interviews with cyberspace celebrities;
     - Free software and other geeky giveaways;
     - Members-only discounts on computer stuff; and
     - In-depth tutorials on Internet tools and topics (okay ... we
already do this in TOURBUS ... perhaps it would be better to
say that TOURBUS Plus! offers _MORE_ in-depth tutorials).

Interested in finding out a little more about TOURBUS Plus!? Hop on over
to the new TOURBUS Plus! homepage at

     http://www.tourbus.com/plus.htm

Oh, by the way, to give you a "taste" of the new TOURBUS Plus! service, Bob
and I are going to be sending out extra TOURBUS posts this Saturday and
next Saturday. Its just our way of showing you what TOURBUS Plus! will be
like, and also our way of thanking you for your support of TOURBUS over the
past two years.

Interested in being a rider on the new TOURBUS Plus!? Hop on over to

     http://www.tourbus.com/plus.htm

And, if you aren't interested in being a part TOURBUS Plus!, that's cool
too. The regular TOURBUS will keep on driving down the Information
Superhighway, and we hope that you will continue to be a free passenger on
our little bus of Internet happiness for years to come. :)
