Hurricane Mitch Relief Efforts
------------------------------

As those of us in the United States sit down on Thursday to give
thanks for what we have, I hope that we will take time to remember the
families who are still recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane
Mitch. According to the Associated Press, flooding and landslides
caused by Mitch killed an estimated 10,000 people throughout Central
America.

International relief efforts are currently underway, but many of these
relief efforts are dangerously underfunded. To find the latest
disaster information from Central America, including links to the many
relief organizations, point your Web browser to

http://headlines.yahoo.com/Full_Coverage/US/Hurricanes/ .

This page is also available en Espanol at

http://www.yahoo.es/noticias/internacional/mitch.html

Several relief organizations are seeking donations. You can find a
list of these relief organizations on the two Yahoo pages listed
above. The American Red Cross also has its own online donations page
to collect money for both the Red Cross "Disaster Relief Fund" which
helps victims of disasters in the United States and for the Red Cross
"International Response Fund" which helps people affected by
International crises such as Hurricane Mitch. The Red Cross donation
Web page is at

http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate-now.html .

This page tells you how you can donate to the Red Cross online, over
the telephone, or by snail mail.

Even if you cannot donate to the relief efforts, take a few moments to
check out Yahoo's Hurricane Mitch news page and learn about the
tragedy that has taken place in Central America.

The Design a Button for TOURBUS Contest
---------------------------------------

I want to thank everyone who designed a button for our little "Design
a Button for TOURBUS" contest. Never in my wildest dreams did I
imagine that we would receive over FIFTY different buttons to choose
from! Your hard work is deeply appreciated.

I am happy to announce that the winner of the Design a Button for
TOURBUS contest is Mathieu Bernard of Grenoble, France. His winning
design, as well as the final vote tally for all of the buttons, can be
seen at

http://www.netsquirrel.com/tourbus/ .

Since the whole point of the contest was to give you a TOURBUS button
that you can put on your own Web pages, I have also created a new Web
page at

http://www.netsquirrel.com/tourbus/index2.html

that tells you what you need to do to add the new TOURBUS button to
your Web pages. :)

Finally, I want to thank everyone for helping make the Design a Button
for TOURBUS contest such an amazing success. [Although, I have to
admit that I am a little disappointed that *MY* button -- H4 -- only
received five votes.] :P

That's it for this week. If you are in the United States, have a safe
and happy Thanksgiving. If you are not in the United States, have a
safe and happy week. :)
