Howdy, y'all, and greetings from beautiful Galena, Illinois! I had to
temporarily leave the beautiful South to do a keynote speech at an
educational technology conference here in equally beautiful Illinois.
Now for the bad news. I have been so busy planning for this
conference that I haven't had much time to catch up on my email or
even to do a lot of Web surfing. If truth be told, today's TOURBUS
post is actually a copy of a post I sent to the TOURBUS Plus list a
few weeks ago. I hope you don't mind. [By the way, you can find out
more about the Plus Bus at http://www.tourbus.com/plus.htm ]

If you are a TOURBUS Plus subscriber, be looking for *TWO* posts from
me this weekend, including one about a new Flamingo World-esque site I
think you'll really enjoy. :)

TOURBUS is made possible by the kind support of our sponsors. I thank
the folks at "Rock Loans," "K-B Kids," and "SmarterKids" for making
today's post possible. As always, please visit our wonderful sponsors
and thank them for keeping the bus rolling!

On with the show ...

Flamingo World
--------------

Between US$3 billion and US$6 billion will be spent online during this
year's holiday season. Let's see if we can help you save you some of
that.

Today's TOURBUS stop is at one of the worst designed and poorly named
Web sites in the world: Flamingo World. You can find Flamingo World
at

http://www.flamingoworld.com/ .

Despite its horrible name and design, Flamingo World has rapidly
become one of my favorite sites on the Net. Why? Well, most e-
commerce sites like Buy.com and K-B Kids offer unadvertised discounts
to special customers. These discounts are significant -- US$20 off a
US$20 purchase, US$15 off a US$30 purchase, 25% off any purchase, and
so on. And these discounts are being offered by e-commerce companies
you know: Barnes and Noble, CDNOW, and Hickory Farms, to name a few.
Unfortunately, you have to have a special code or have a special
coupon to be able to receive these discounts.

Flamingo World is a giant, online archive of these secret discount
codes and coupons!

The Flamingo World homepage [ http://www.flamingoworld.com/ ] shows
the latest deals and coupons. It takes a second to understand how
Flamingo World's information is organized, but it is actually pretty
simple. To take advantage of most discounts, just click on the
appropriate link. To take advantage of most coupon codes, write the
code down, visit the appropriate e-commerce merchant, and then key in
the coupon code when you place your order.

For example, Flamingo World shows you that K-B Kids is currently
offering two discounts: free shipping on orders of US$30 or more, and
US$10 off any purchase of US$30 or more for first time customers.
Astute readers may find this information strikingly familiar -- you
can find it in one of today's TOURBUS ads! Well, the folks at
Flamingo World scan the Net looking for and collecting discount
information like this. :)

If you go to the Flamingo World homepage, you'll see the following:

    K-B Kids
    Free Shipping on $30+ orders!
    $10 off $30. 1st time customers.

The "Free shipping" line is not clickable (in other words, it is not a
hyperlink), so my guess is that the free shipping is automatic. Place
your order at K-B Kids sometime soon and you'll automatically receive
free shipping. To receive the US$10 discount, however, you'll have to
click on the appropriate link. [This will make more sense when you
visit the Flamingo World homepage.]

Don't forget to look at the Flamingo World "Coupon and Deals" pages.
There are two of these: Coupons and Deals A-G

http://flamingoworld.com/coupon.htm

and Coupons and Deals H-Z

http://flamingoworld.com/coupon2.htm .

These pages give you access to a bunch of coupons and discount codes
most people don't know about.

Before you venture out to the cybermall this holiday season, pay a
visit to Flamingo World and see if you can save yourself a few bucks.
Heck, some of my friends have even used Flamingo World's discounts to
pay for ALL of their holiday shopping!

--------------------
A Quick Bit of Humor
--------------------

In what is probably an apocryphal story, the following reportedly
appeared in the TV section of a Marin, California, newspaper:

Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first
woman she meets and then teams up with three complete stangers
      to kill again.

The movie in question? The Wizard of Oz. :)

That's it for today. Today's TOURBUS post is a tad bit short (and
recycled), but I hope today's information about Flamingo World will
help you save a little money this holiday season. :)
