THE WEBBYS
------------
Some people call them the "Oscars of the Internet". The 4th annual
Webby Awards, hosted by The International Academy of Digital Arts and
Sciences, will be awarded on May 11th. Winning a Webby Award is a
significant honor for a Web site, because the members of the Academy
are noted professionals in many areas of expertise.
The Academy selects 5 nominees in each category, and in each category
there are 2 awards given: The Webby Award and The People's Voice
Award. Judges from the Academy pick the winners of The Webby Awards,
but YOU (or more accurately, Y'ALL) get to pick the winners of The
People's Voice Awards, by popular vote.
The 2000 Webby Awards will feature 27 categories: Activism, Arts,
Broadband, Commerce, Community, Education, Fashion, Film, Finance,

MOVIE REVIEWS: THE JUXTAPOSEUR
--------------------------------
There are lots of movie review sites on the Web, but Juxtaposeur takes
it one step further - he reviews the reviewers and critique the
critics. The Juxtaposeur takes the reviews of real film critics,
places them together in his own review of reviews, and occasionally
pokes fun at them.
Roger Ebert and other well-known critics, along with critics from
smaller publications and independent Internet-only critics are all
represented, so you can get a balanced perspective. Links to 50
online movie review sites can be found along with Juxtaposeur's witty
commentary.
The Juxtaposeur says he has nothing against movie critics, so long as
they deliver "well-written, insightful reviews that demonstrate an
appropriate level of cultural and film-history knowledge." But
Juxtaposeur has no mercy on hack "experts" who pick apart the work of
others, or praise crappy films for perks. So it's only fair, he says,
that critics be critiqued with the same level of scrutiny.

with many different voices, you'll enjoy a visit to Juxtaposeur.
