Movie Mistakes
--------------

Back when I was a simulations director at the United States Space
Camp, I endured the most traumatic torture known to man: I was forced
to watch the movie "SpaceCamp" ... at least once a week ... for TWO
AND A HALF YEARS!

Oh, the humanity.

One of the ways that I survived this ordeal was by counting the number
of mistakes in the movie (like, for example, the fact that the movie
shows the Shuttle's solid rocket boosters igniting SIX DIFFERENT
TIMES). Torture does this to you. :P

What does this have to do with today's first stop? Well, I recently
found a really cool Web site dedicated to cataloging all sorts of
movie mistakes from every movie imaginable:

http://www.movie-mistakes.com/ .

The site is still a work in progress -- it only knows about TWO
mistakes in the movie SpaceCamp! -- but it still offers some really
cool insights into stuff you might have missed in your favorite
movies.

The Movie Mistake site has several cool sections, but my three
favorites are:

    1) The top mistake-filled films
       http://www.movie-mistakes.com/links/topfilms.htm

This is a clickable list of the 20 most mistake-filled movies.
Titanic currently tops the list with 123 mistakes (but, give me
a copy of SpaceCamp and a free weekend and I guarantee you that
Cameron's little boat flick is going DOWN!)

    2) The worst movie mistakes of all time
       http://www.movie-mistakes.com/links/topmistakes.htm

Actually, this list of the 20 worst mistakes is kind of
subjective ... but it is still a fun read.

    3) The alphabetical index of mistake-filled movies
       http://www.movie-mistakes.com/links/films.htm

This section is pretty self-explanatory. The index currently
       contains 1,415 different movies.

Remember, the Movie Mistake Web site is still a work in progress. If
you want to contribute a mistake to the database, just click on the
"Contribute" link on the left side of the page.

Enjoy. :)

Blockbuster Class Settlement
----------------------------

If you rented a movie from Blockbuster any time over the past nine
years and were subsequently charged a late fee, take a look at

http://promo.blockbuster.com/default.asp?site=evf&page=index.html .

Blockbuster recently settled a lawsuit stemming from Blockbuster's
extended viewing policies and fees. To be a part of the settlement,
you need to fill out a form ... and then you might get something in
the mail next year. Maybe. I'm not really sure (the settlement
agreement is really confusing).

That's it for this week. Have a safe and happy weekend, and we'll
talk again soon. :)
